WELCOME LEAFLET FOR FRENCH GOVERNMENT BURSARY RECIPIENTS
You have been granted a bursary by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This
leaflet aims to explain the first things you should do when you arrive at the
Versailles Academy. It explains the status of a French Government Bursary
Recipient and details the rights and obligations that accompany this bursary, as per
the regulatory texts currently in force i.e. the Inter-Ministerial Decision of 27
December 1983.
The duration of each bursary is set by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs depending on
the studies that you are to undertake in France.
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that your bursary is not
automatically renewed, i.e. the duration stipulated on allocation is a budgetary
indication that does not constitute a commitment on the part of the Ministry, the
latter reserving the right to terminate it at the end of a course of study, for example.

On arrival there are 4 main things you need to do :
1 - Request a Residency Permit (Carte de séjour)
2 - Open a Bank or Post Office Account
3 - Join the Student Social Security Plan
4 - Complete the University Registration Process and Provide us with a
University Attendance Certificate
You are to check the exact registration dates with your Education Service and
respect these dates.
PLEASE NOTE
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not pay the registration fees for seminars
or workshops. The bursary recipient, the establishment or the laboratory that
wants the bursary recipient to participate in such a meeting is to pay these fees.
