Presentation of the French programm for the British students
Faculty Jean Monnet set up group of means intended to make easier
the preparation of the students who come to perform one year of studies
with Stamps. These means are given to all candidates for an
international programme, in the Community framework SOCRATES or, more
widely, as part of the policy of the international relations of the
University Paris south.
The first objective of this policy of support is to make easier the
insertion of the participants in the French educational cloth. Each of
actions set up is chronologically inserted in the university calendar
according to priorities and to choices of every student.
The actions of linguistic support
This actions are primordial to assure, as of need, a good delivery
at linguistic level of every participant in an exchange programme,
whatever is concerned discipline. One takes care by the service of the
international relations of the University of the actions of delivery at
linguistic level. Besides a help on linguistic plan as such, courts
give a very good occasion of contact between the participants in the
different programmes of exchanges of the University.
The educations of French begin from September, and it is
recommended to the students to arrive as early as possible to benefit
from it.
These courts of French are entrusted to teachers specialists. They
have as objectives to draw the students away in the basic techniques of
oral and written expression. They are intended, especially, to favour
the job of the student during the first weeks of court in Faculty Jean
Monnet. In this context, they contribute to landing difficulties, felt
by some students, the level of expression and of understanding of which
of the language is deficient.
Courts owed a quarter, in principle, and end in the vicinity of
Christmas, when the student is emancipated enough to control alone the
linguistic tool.
Faculty ties a very particular importance to these courts of
language, intended to reinforce the linguistic plinth, on which the
student must imperatively be able to lean to confront the first
semestre in the best conditions.
The actions of tutorial system
The students who discover for the first time the French university
system are often flustered by the pedagogic approach which
predominates, especially in the faculties of right there. The system of
lectures, which exist not much or not in universities partners, and the
system of run jobs (TD), conceived around a "chip" of TD which acts as
reference to every session, sometimes put off the students of the
SOCRATES program.
To allow them to take their landmarks faster in our system, Faculty
Jean Monnet puts a guardian in the disposition of the students of the
international programmes. This guardian, most often studying of
doctorate which shone even participated in an exchange programme,
exercises no pedagogic function.
As part of an institutional permanence, this guardian is at the
disposal of students to guide them in their different steps to
concerned administrative services or to recommend them on practical
aspects of the life of faculty (library, life of the student). The
guardian constitutes a privileged link - especially in the first
quarter - between every student and the university system as a whole.
Organisation of the certificate
The core of the French degree of law contains inevitably four
annual written subjects, which constitute the basic plinth of the year
of study.
The academic year is divided into two semestres which take place
respectively from October till January (autumn semestre) and from
February till May (spring semestre). Every semestre lasts 12 weeks.
Every course takes place at the rate of 3 hours a week, during the
semestre in the course of which it is taught.
Four subjects are the following:
* General administrative law (I and II)
* Commercial law - right business: right of societies (I and II)
Lessons given to the students Socrates for these four fundamental subjects, make the object of specific dispositions.
In traditional separation between the lecture and run jobs is
substituted one run / TD of three hours a week, especially conceived
for these students. This system allows to the teacher to adapt its
education, in the course of sessions, to its audience. That's how in
the first weeks, when important difficulties of understanding can be
met, the teacher will be able to speak less quickly, choose words,
repeat, illustrate his purpose in a particular way student, not very
many, can also pose at any instants, the questions which they wish.
Method is completely interactive and allows a constant monitoring of
the progress of course and of understanding of the students. She allows
to eliminate the naturally passive character of the courts of
amphitheatre.
The session of TD, conceived from the same programme as for the
students of common regime, she is even melted in this course, but
documents distributed to the students are adapted. Modes of questioning
are also more orientated to practical approaches and studies of case. A
very particular accent is put on the permanent participation of the
students during every session.
Entrusted to experienced teachers, this methodological approach
turns out to be particularly adapted to the type of questions put down
on the occasion of written examinations. A training in this type of
questions is specifically envisaged before every examination to make
commonplace approach.
Organisation of the assessment of the written subjects:
In these four subjects, said «with TD», the regulations of studies
envisage the existence of an assessment. This assessment has as object
to assess all the participations of every student throughout course and
allows, notably, to assess determined progress.
Elements taken into account as the assessment are varied: it is a
question as well of assessing the capacity of oral participation of the
students at every working session, as all the written or oral works
which will have been able to be done during year. Are so possible be
assessed: accounts, duties written, the comments of stopping, questions
with numerous choices …
All these elements allow to stop a said note «of assessment». This note represents material 50 % final notes of.
Regime of written partial examinations:
For each of four compulsory subjects, he is organised an
examination says " partial examination " at the end of every semestre.
The modalities of this examination hold the biggest count of all
educations and exercises which were offered by the teacher in the
course of the previous semestre valuation. Especially, types of
questions put down in examination made the object of a training, so
that the students do not feel particular difficulties.
Copies make the object of a double correction.Les copies font l’objet d’une double correction.
To
take into account some difficulties of adaptation which could appear to
the 1st semestre, the percentage of the first partial examination of
the end of January is of 20 % final notes, while the 2nd partial
examination represents 30 %.
Methodology of the oral subjects
To meet requirements of the certificate, every student must
supplement the core of written subjects, above described, by 4 other
subjects, among which two in the choice.
Compulsory oral subjects:
* Right of contracts (1st semestre – 2nd year of Licence)
* Civil liability (2nd semestre – 2nd year of Licence)
Oral subjects with option:
Two semestres to be chosen among all the subjects taught Faculty Jean Monnet.
For each of these subjects, examination will consist of an oral
examination from 10 till 15 minutes with an examinant. This test is
organised at the end of the semestre in the course of which education
was given.
The choice of the optional subjects is very broad since the
students can opt for courses taught in legal, economic, linguistic
disciplines or of management.
The choice of these subjects is made habitually early in the year.
The students Socrates have however a period of reflexion of several
weeks after the beginning of courts to confirm their final choices.
They can so attend several courts, early in the year, to operate then
on more judicious choices.
They also have pedagogic advice, from their arrival to faculty.
Finally, before choosing definitely, they are individually accepted by
the representative for the programme.
Common grids of valuation
To limit consequences of the diversity of modes of valuation
between every university partner to exchange, a common grid of
valuation is defined by the pedagogic representatives for every
establishment. The objective of this grid is to allow, in accordance
with Community directives, satisfactory transposition of notes got in
the university of reception towards the university of origin.
A very particular attention is granted in this grid, which allows a
better recognition of the performances of every student for the
conferment of mention or particular differentiations as part of its
national certificate.
